Black People Stereotypes

Don’t you just hate when people judge you because of your race, how you dress, how you eat, what you look like, how you talk, what you eat, etc? People are stereotypical all the time. Stereotypical means “a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.”

For example, people portray that since I’m black, I am ghetto, I don’t like white people, I am loud, I am rude, I am late all the time, just ludicrous things . It honestly bothers me when people judge me this way. How would you feel if I discriminated you and said, “Oh you can’t sit with us because you’re white?”  I can answer that for you. You would be hurt, you will feel like you’re a loner, that you don’t belong because of your color.

Another stereotype for black people is that we are ghetto. We love to fight, do drugs and/or sell them, be rude, we’re uneducated, despise white people. I’ll have you know that there is no such thing as “being ghetto.” Just because I’m yelling and being mean to you doesn’t mean I’m ghetto, it means that I am putting you in your place because I don’t take peoples bull. There is no uniformed way to behave or think black. If you see a black women yelling she is automatically “ghetto”, but if you see an Asian or white women yelling, they are just “angry.” People these days don’t know what ghetto even means. Ghetto means a place where the Jews were transferred during the holocaust.

Stereotypes needs to stop. They are not just untrue, but they are hurtful. I am not different because of my color. I act just the same as you do. There is nothing different about me. I have an iPhone, I go to a rich school just like you, I am smart, I don’t hate white people and if I did I would be rude to all of you. All races like fried chicken and watermelon, not just black people.  There are multiple ways to stop stereotypes. Ways to stop stereotypes is to stop making assumptions and being judgmental. Before judging get to know the person. How great would it be if we took steps towards greater acceptance in our lives? Pretty darn great!
